Our first airmarking!

Santa Rosa's Route 66 Airport

A little paint-spattered and tired, but we're proud of our work.

On Saturday, 20 October, sixteen of us got together and finally did an airmarking at Route 66 Airport in Santa Rosa.

What a wonderful experience! We painted the words "Santa Rosa" and the Route 66 shield onto the main runway of Route 66 Airport in Santa Rosa. Despite some minor problems with the templates (we are making our own templates next time, ladies), it was a successful and fun day for everyone!

A special Thank You to everyone who helped out:

Kathy Hancock
Tina Jenkin
Greta, Rebecca, and Matthew Moore
Valerie Peyton
Elaine and Jordan Roderick
Marilyn Seddon
Carrie and George Slad
Anna and Kent Taylor
Jini, Eli, and Vince Wimmer

The runway at Route 66 Airport has recently been widened. You can see the old centerline in these pictures. The words "Santa Rosa" and the Route 66 shield used to be painted on each side of the centerline (you can see them blacked out in these pictures). However, the airport manager received complaints that the six foot letters were hard to see from the air. Therefore, we used ten foot letters in our airmarking.  Bottom right, here are some of our happy workers at Pizza Hut after a hard day's work. Pictured here, from left to right are George Slad, Valerie Peyton, Jini Wimmer, Elaine Roderick, Rebecca Moore, Greta Moore, Carrie Slad, Anna Taylor, and Kent Taylor.
