Flying Companion Seminar

New Mexico Ninety-Nines relax after a successful seminar.

The Rio Grande Norte and Albuquerque Chapters of the Ninety-Nines collaborated on a project to promote an interest in aviation in our communities. The Flying Companion Seminar targeted the people who enjoy flying with a general aviation pilot, but do not have pilot training themselves.

Much planning and research went into the preparation of this event.  We covered topics such as: Flight Instruments, Parts of the Plane, Using the Radio, Charts and Pilotage, Flight Planning, Mountain Flying and everyone's favorite...What to do in an Emergency. Our goal was to help the attendees learn to take an active part in a flight and also feel more relaxed and knowledgeable in the process.

After a day of learning, eating, discussing and meeting new people, we feel everyone went home a little more confident in their role as a cockpit companion. We plan to do this type of event on a regular basis.

Our next Flying Companion Seminar has been scheduled. Click here to see the information sheet.  For more information on future seminars, contact Rio Grande Norte (Santa Fe) or Albuquerque Ninety-Nines
